Diesel Tech Paid Internship with Scholarship Opportunity

Join us at Zomer's to start your career path in Diesel Technology! We are looking for a high school student interested in working with your hands, solving mechanical problems, and learning about diesel engines. Join our team as a Part-Time Diesel Technician. Gain real-world experience in a growing industry — with the potential to earn a Build Dakota Scholarship for post-secondary education in diesel technology!

Duties may include:

  • Assist experienced diesel technicians in diagnosing, servicing, and repairing diesel engines and equipment

  • Perform basic maintenance tasks (oil changes, filter replacements, cleaning parts and work areas)

  • Use basic hand tools and shop equipment under supervision

Requirements:

  • Current high school junior or senior (at least 16 years old)

  • Interest in diesel technology

  • Willingness to learn and work in a hands-on environment

  • Good attendance record and strong work ethic

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods

  • Flexible, part-time hours built around your school schedule

  • Exposure to a high-demand career field with real advancement potential

  • Mentorship from experienced diesel technicians

  • Eligibility for a partnership with Zomer's to receive a full Build Dakota Scholarship at a participating South Dakota technical college (covering tuition, fees, tools, and more)

  • Potential for full-time employment after graduation
